Hot Pink Bath Towels

Monday, April 19th, 2010

Stored pink bath towels could add a shot of color to a bathroom with a pharmacy style cabinet hanging on the wall. A guest who used that bathroom would find it almost impossible to overlook the spark of color in the lavatory's glass storage compartment. The color in a single pink bath towel could show through both the sides and door of that unique type of storage unit.

By the same token, a single hot pink bath towel would furnish a striking contrast to the dark wood of an Inset medicine cabinet. A homeowner can request an espresso stain on either the small or large units, both of which are part of the Cartwright Bath Collection.

By placing such a colorful towel in a well furnished lavatory, a homeowner can give those who might visit that area a dual exposure to the terry cloth color. Assuming optimal placement of the tall wooden cabinet, any towel placed behind its glass door could be seen both directly, and reflected in the vanity mirror.

A set of bright towels would help to dress up a bathroom that had a limited amount of closed storage space. Such a lavatory might have a tower of open shelves, such as the Dutch Industrial Tower pictured in the early spring 2010 catalogue from Restoration Hardware. The same publication reveals a clever method for stacking and storing any group of towels.

That publication shows an open tower with wire baskets, baskets of the sort that used to be used in the locker room of a school gym. A homeowner has filled two baskets with a set of towels. Had they been pastel colored towels, they would have added a spot of color to an otherwise drab lavatory.

A perusal of that RH catalogue should allow for discovery of yet another way to contribute color to what might have been a very colorless bathroom. One picture in that catalogue contains a photograph of something called a Grande Etagere.

What is a Grand Etagere? It is a tower of open shelves. Those shelves run perpendicular to the long metal bars that constitute the frame for that vertical line of six shelves. A homeowner that does not want such a tall tower can order a similar piece, but one with only four shelves. Both units are part of the Newbury Bath Collection.

The bathroom settings described above underline the degree to which a simple towel can become an important decorative tool. While the above examples have focused on towels yet to be used, a towel in use could also help to jazz up a seemingly colorless lavatory. It could be hung on an attractive towel ring, a ring positioned so that a reflection of any hanging towel would shine in its glass.
